Transforming Parc Lôn Las
Investment in a Community Space
Llangefni Town Council is pleased to share a progress update on the Parc Lôn Lâs Transformation Project, an exciting initiative that is transforming the park into a more welcoming, inclusive and active space for residents of all ages.
The project has been made possible through UK Government Pride in Place funding, with the support of Anglesey County Council, helping to deliver long-term improvements for the local community.
New Basketball & Play Court
State of the art basketball hoops will be installed, creating a new basketball facility on a striking mural, designed in partnership to reflect our unique community.
Community Activity Hub
The old bowling green will have a new lease of life alongside a Community Play Container, ensuring you have access to the equipment you need to be active.
Inclusion and Accessibility
Making the space inclusive, accessible and fun for all is a key component of the project to ensure that the space is attractive throughout the day and into the evening.
Construction Works Nearing Completion
The initial phase of improvement works, carried out by AE & AT Lewis, is now approaching completion.
These essential works have helped prepare the site for the next phase of the project and have laid the foundations for several exciting new features that will be introduced over the coming months.
Focus Shifts to the Mural and Basketball Court
With the groundwork phase largely complete, attention is now turning to one of the most anticipated elements of the project: the creation of a vibrant community mural and new basketball court.
Residents may already have noticed that the bases for the basketball hoops have been installed. The hoops themselves will be erected once the mural artwork has been completed, allowing the finished facility to create maximum visual impact and provide a unique destination within the park.
The mural design is being developed with community involvement at its heart, helping to ensure the final artwork reflects the character, creativity and identity of Llangefni.
Bringing the Pavilion Back into Community Use
Alongside the outdoor improvements, work is continuing to explore opportunities to make better use of the pavilion as a community asset.
The aim is to create a welcoming space that can support activities, events and projects that encourage people of all ages to enjoy Parc Lôn Lâs and connect with others in the community.
Community Feedback is Shaping the Project
A key part of the project has been listening to the views of local residents.
Feedback received through surveys, conversations and engagement activities has highlighted a number of priorities, and the Council is working to incorporate many of the most popular suggestions into the final plans.
These include:
- Additional picnic benches
- More litter bins
- Inclusive family-friendly activities
- Opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the park
The Council would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their ideas and help shape the future of the site.
New Project Noticeboard
To help keep residents informed about progress, a dedicated project noticeboard has been installed at the entrance to Parc Lôn Lâs.
The noticeboard will provide updates on project milestones, explain upcoming activities and highlight opportunities for residents, volunteers and organisations to get involved.
We encourage everyone visiting the park to take a look and follow the project's progress.
Looking Ahead
The transformation of Parc Lôn Lâs is being delivered step by step, with each phase helping to create a more vibrant, welcoming and inclusive community space.
Llangefni Town Council is grateful for the ongoing support of residents, partners and volunteers, and looks forward to sharing further updates as the project continues to develop.
Together, we are creating a space designed by the community, for the community.
